Can a first time home buyer get help buying a home?
Is it true? Will the government help me buy a house? Can I get into a home for no money down?
I am a first time home buyer right now also. The government is not offering a no money down loan.
They are offering to give you $7500 if you purchase a house before June of ‘09. When you file your taxes, your little H and R block guy will type something in, and you will get your normal return plus $7500 when you get your tax return.
I AM getting a no money down loan right now, but it is not through the government. I am getting a rural housing development loan because I am buying a home outside the city limits in Missouri. So while I’m not sure where you live, I would call a mortgage lender in your area to find out what you are approved for and what you can get.
Most idiots on here will tell you that you have to put down 10-20% of the house value to get a house. They are delusional. No one has that type of cash lying around unless you are drug dealer or a baby boomer.
Most lenders will get you into some really good programs right now because there are very few buyers right now. If you get the rural housing development loan you will not have to pay private mortgage insurance, either.

In addition to the $7500 federal program mentioned above, you may also be eligible for downpayment grants or special loan programs from your state.
